of the month

A monthly overview of music, shows, movies, stories, videos, web things, etc. that I found significant, interesting, and/or worthwhile, paired with a few thoughts. Basically a media log.

january 2026 (#2)

Spent most of this month feeling quite emotional about all of the changes in my life. Despite it all, I am unexpectedly excited for what is next for me. I am trying to try new things and "put myself out there" both socially, academically, and career-wise. I am afraid.

🎵 music Drag Path
Twenty One Pilots, 2025
Thekind of song that will haunt you everywhere for years. Everyday I find a new reason to cry while listening to Drag Path. In a way, I guess this site is my own drag path. Can you find me?

📺 tv The Pitt (Season 2)
R. Scott Gemmill, 2026
The Pittlings rise again... this time with a 10-month time-skip and a few changes to the cast. I can't lie, I'm having a hard time enjoying the new season with all of the changes; I was really attached to the S1 cast and storyline. I am, however, excited for the challenges that will arise during the July 4th celebrations.

🔖 fanfic Doing Harm
MadQueen, 2026
(I won't be linking this due to its graphic subject matter). A HuckleRobbyAbbot Pittfic. To celebrate their anniversary, Jack drugs Dennis and brings him home as a "gift" for Robby, who is none the wiser. Delightfully dark, insidious, and fucked up. This went Platinum in my AO3 history, but I got a little emotional every time I reached the end. Poor Huckleberry :(

🎵 music TYRANT x All Night Remix
Beyonce & Dolly Parton & CowboyDanny, 2025
(Find it here). A mash-up remix of TYRANT with the instrumentals of All Night. I originally found it by chance when it was on my Youtube recommended page. TYRANT was already my favourite song on Cowboy Carter, but this definitely elevated it to another level. Banger.
country hip hop R&B
🎮 game my baby needs blood
Crotovane, 2025
(Find it here). A thoughtfully-crafted short game by my web neighbour Crotovane. Beautifully haunting in its writing, atmosphere, and art. I was also pleasantly surprised to see Ainu mythology depicted in horror, in tandem with themes of gender dysphoria. It was bleak and painfully relatable in a way I'm not sure I'll recover from. I still have so many questions after replaying it several times. Go check it out.

december 2025 (#1)

Winter break meant that, when I returned home, I basically spent the entire week and 1/2 in my room consuming media. I binged TV show seasons in the span of an entire day. After grinding for final exams, it made sense to catch up on all of the things I'd been saving for later.

🎵 music Velvet Ring (2023 Remaster)
Big Thief, 2023
Last song of 2025. It always makes me feel a way that I can't really describe in writing. I get goosebumps all over.
folk indie
📺 tv The Pitt (Season 1)
R. Scott Gemmill, 2025
Chaotic, stressful, and often depressing, but stacked with a cast of characters that manages to make it ironically fun. Definitely one of the best titles within the medical drama genre that I've seen thus far. It also serves as an effective reminder of why I chose not to go into med.
medical drama
📺 tv Stranger Things (Season 5)
The Duffer Brothers, 2025
I watched this with my family after coming home for winter break. (In an Anthony Fantano voice) Not Good. Despite that, we did enjoy laughing at the corny, unnecessary monologues and comically awful acting in some scenes.
sci-fi horror mystery
🎥 youtube Charlie Kirk and the Conservative Death Cult
F.D. Signifier, 2025
I listened to this several times in the background while studying for finals. Fiq debriefs the life, death, and legacy of Charlie Kirk, and tries to make sense of this alt-right culture war madness we're seeing today. I think everyone should watch this.
video essay politics
🎮 game Doll's Play
Outootome, 2024
(Find it here). I was scrolling through Itch.io for free games when I landed on this small VN. Never thought I'd enjoy reading about toxic lesbians forcing each other to eat vomit, but this was quite a delight! Possibly awakened something in me.
