THE LEFT HAND OF ITHACUS
Artemis Aetos is one of the protagonist characters of Daughter of Ithacus.
Orphaned at thirteen by a Voracity attack that claimed her and Aria's parents, Artemis was adopted by Empress Cassandra Aetos, becoming heir to an empire she is ill-equipped to lead. Her mother, Empress Cassandra Aetos, and Aria watched with growing concern as she retreated into her laboratory rather than learning to navigate court politics, struggling to embody the grace and authority expected of her station.
Alongside her research partner and best friend, Troy Vulcan, Artemis dedicated herself to studying Aether Spheres, giving up on her family's expectations of her. She saw in them the potential to revolutionize Ithacus for good. Her marriage to the formidable Lykos Areius brought her the family she always wanted, including their son Argo, while merging two of Ithacus' most powerful houses. However, when Lykos' uncle Agrius arrived with plans to weaponize their research, the delicate balance of her life shattered.
After Troy's desperate escape with their Aether Core ends in catastrophe, Artemis finds herself on a decade-long quest across the stars. Guided by Sophira, the goddess of wisdom, she must navigate between her duties as heir to Ithacus and her mission to prevent their creation from sowing destruction throughout the galaxy. With each world they visit and every impossible choice they face, Artemis questions what truly separates humanity from monstrosity—and what she's willing to sacrifice to return home.
Artemis is a 5'4" Ithacian woman with a toned and lithe physique. Her arms and shoulders are strong from years of archery. She has tan, freckled skin, almond-shaped brown eyes, and wavy black hair that falls just to her chin, styled in a tousled, choppy wolfcut. She wears hearing aids in both ears. There is a cut across her right eyebrow.
She dresses in a masculine, boyish, and utilitarian style, often seen in her lab clothes—a jacket over a button-up shirt, sturdy pants, gloves, a belt with multiple compartments, a kerchief, and scuffed boots that show years of wear. Her outfits are functional, with reinforced fabrics to withstand the rigors of her work. Her hands are calloused and often smudged with oil or grease.
