THE HEAD OF ITHACUS
Troy Vulcan is one of the protagonist characters of Daughter of Ithacus.
Born into House Vulcan and a society that prizes strength and might, Troy was marked as an outsider due to his physical limitations, but he found purpose and solace in scientific research. Despite his keen intellect, innovative mind, and exceptional achievements in academia, Ithacian society, and his own mother Leto Vulcan, couldn't see past his flaws and imperfections.
Since the age of sixteen, he has been haunted by the sight of an Aether Core tearing through the sky, its power whispering promises of perfection. Partnering with Artemis Aetos, he dedicated himself to researching the Aether Spheres--powerful sources of pure energy--with hopes of seeing their applications across Ithacian society.
When Agrius Areius sought to weaponize their discoveries for military conquest, Troy, unwilling to let his work become an instrument of destruction, attempted to escape with his research. His actions led to an accidental hyperjump that fractured the Core, scattering its pieces across different worlds. Now hunted by the Galactic Peace Federation, Troy embarks on a decade-long journey with Artemis, Remi, and new allies to retrieve the lost fragments. Along the way, he discovers that his connection to the Core grants him extraordinary abilities that allow him to transcend his limitations, though the cost of wielding such power remains uncertain.
Torn between his conscience and self-loathing, Troy must decide if the promises whispered to him by the Core are worth the price it demands.
Troy Vulcan is a 5'8" Ithacian man with a gaunt and thin build, his frame wiry but upright. He walks with a noticeable limp, the result of osteonecrosis in his left leg and hip, and usually wears a brace to support that leg. As well, Troy always has a sleek silver cane beside him; its handle the shape of a crow's head.
He has dark brown skin, brown eyes, and shoulder-length black twists, usually tied into a neat bun at the back of his head. His appearance is always meticulously groomed.
Troy’s style is sophisticated and refined, even in the lab. He favors slacks, tailored vests, leather gloves and belts, gold jewelry, and crisp jackets, often paired with polished shoes. He is never seen without pens, rulers, and various other tools attached to his belt.
