Shion “Shio” Arashi, is a Semi-Grade 1 sorcerer from the Arashi Clan, a talented weaponsmaker, archer, and current internal administrator of the Gojo Clan by marriage.
Shion Arashi was raised in the Arashi Clan, a minor but highly respected sorcerer family known for producing cursed tools, barrier components, and weather-reactive talismans. She had a fairly unremarkable childhood, primarily spent training for her eventual rise to the position of clan Head. However, at the age of 16, she was pulled out of her studies at Kyoto Jujutsu High to be married to a recently-turned-19 Satoru Gojo. The arranged marriage was one orchestrated by their respective clan elders, who wished to secure their bloodlines and alliances against the growing rivalries with the other Sorcerer Families.
Now married to the head of the Gojo Clan and the strongest man alive, Shion finds herself at odds with her new position as both the public face of a powerful household and a political asset within it. Although she takes on administrative work for the Gojo estate, manages clan finances, attends formal meetings, and acts as a capable negotiator, she initially has little real control over the direction of her own life. Satoru’s immense grief, fear of abandonment, and arrogance gradually make the marriage increasingly toxic.
Shion is typically calm, practical, well-mannered, and observant. She is not naturally confrontational, preferring to resolve disputes through patience, compromise, and careful planning. Despite her reserved nature, Shion is politically intelligent and stubborn when it matters, especially when she is standing her ground against clan elders. She is somewhat jaded by the conservative, hierarchical nature of Jujutsu society, and believes the world would be much improved if they were gone–though she won’t ever admit this aloud.
Shion is lean with broad shoulders for a woman. She typically dresses in loose, comfortable men's clothing and wears her shoulder-length black hair loose or tied into a half-bun. She has a freckled, tan face and almond-shaped, dark purple eyes. After losing her left arm in a past conflict with Satoru Gojo, she either wears a custom-built, functional prosthetic or goes without it. She had her ear lobes pierced in adulthood at his request, and wears small, dark gauges in them.
Shion is known to be calm, practical, and direct. She prefers clear language, simple routines, and concrete tasks over dramatic gestures or emotional displays. Most of the time, she observes quietly, thinks through her options, and responds only after she has decided what she actually wants to say. This has made her into an exceptional diplomat and strategist, one capable of going toe-to-toe with–and securing political wins–against the big names of the Kamo and Zenin clans.
This is quite a contrast to her personality as a teenager. In her youth, Shion was rebellious; doing things by her own whims and beliefs, staying out late, and taking risks to exercise her skills against the odds. She often butt heads with her parents, particularly her mother, who wished for her to “calm down” for the sake of marriage and the image of the Arashi clan. As a result, Shion has a large amount of empathy for the young sorcerers of today and the challenges they face against the conservatism of the old guard.
Shion is highly responsible and work-oriented. She handles paperwork, finances, logistics, planning, and the personal troubles of others without complaint. She often takes on tasks other people avoid. This sense of duty can make her seem older than she is. It also means she tends to put her own feelings aside until they become too heavy to ignore.
Despite Satoru’s treatment of her, as both a proxy of his best friend and an outlet for his rage, Shion maintains a steadfast, agonizing patience with him. To survive being his emotional punching bag, she absorbs it, disscoiates, and detaches herself from the world to avoid breaking down. This seems to stem from a deep-seated guilt over her reckless past. A part of her believes she deserves his cruelty as long-overdue, karmic punishment for her treatment of her mother in her youth.
In battle, Shion is scrappy, resourceful, and survivalist. She is never above fighting dirty, using every available tool, environmental hazard, and underhand tactic to gain the upper hand. She does not find joy in violence, nor does she care for gloating or grandstanding. Instead, she directs all her energy and focus to ending the conflict by any means necessary so she can move on to the next task.
Born on December 12, 1992, Shion grew up as the heir to the Arashi Clan, a minor sorcerer family known for their weather-based cursed techniques and weapons crafting. Her early life was turbulent; while she shared a close bond with her grandfather, Kazuo, she suffered from severe mental health struggles and suicidal ideation. This led to volatile, often physical altercations with her parents that frequently escalated into her trashing their home, breaking down doors, and terrifying her younger brother, Ren. Despite her challenging home life, Shion’s immense talent shone through when she enrolled at Kyoto Jujutsu High at fifteen, earning a prompt promotion to Grade 2.
However, at sixteen, her parents and clan elders agreed to sell her into an arranged marriage with nineteen-year-old Satoru Gojo to elevate the Arashi clan’s wealth and influence. The marriage quickly developed into a deeply toxic dynamic. Reeling from the defection of Suguru Geto, Satoru projected his grief and guilt onto Shion, who closely resembled Geto in both appearance and personality. Over the next decade, their relationship was marked by emotional, financial, physical, and sexual abuse, with Satoru often using her as an outlet for his frustrations with Jujutsu Society. Refusing to remain a bored "trophy wife," Shion took control of the Gojo Clan's finances and logistics, establishing herself as an exceptional administrator and negotiator, while also helping provide for the orphaned Megumi and Tsumiki. Their volatile relationship reached a breaking point when Shion acquired the Inverted Spear of Heaven after lengthy negotiations with the Zenin clan. During a heated argument over the weapon, which could nullify Satoru’s technique, he blasted off her left arm, leaving her permanently maimed.
Following Satoru's sealing during the Shibuya Incident, Shion officially took over as the default head of the Gojo Clan. She was then forced to participate in the Culling Games, aligning herself with Satoru's students in Tokyo Colony No. 2. During the games, she and Kinji Hakari fought and defeated Hajime Kashimo—whom she discovered was her ancestor—after an exhausting battle of Domain Expansions. Upon Satoru's eventual unsealing, he slaughtered the Jujutsu higher-ups, which included Shion's beloved grandfather, Kazuo. Despite the grief this caused her, Satoru showed seemingly no remorse for the act.
Following the Shinjuku Showdown and Sukuna's defeat, Shion's role shifted once again. She became the primary caretaker for a severely traumatized Satoru, who survived being bisected but was left with chronic pain and PNES. She eventually had a son with him, largely against her will.
This Arashi Clan technique allows Shion to harvest ambient cursed energy generated by people’s emotional responses to weather conditions, then convert that energy into weather manipulation and other weather-specific abilities. Weather affects large groups of people at once: storms can create fear and unease, heat can cause irritation, fog can produce anxiety, cold can create isolation, and clear spring weather can inspire relief or optimism. These emotional reactions generate cursed energy in the surrounding area.
The technique does not create weather from nothing. Shion must work with the existing atmosphere, including rain, wind, sunlight, fog, humidity, temperature, cloud cover, and the time of day.

Shion can sense changes in weather-linked cursed energy across a wide area. This allows her to detect abnormal atmospheric pressure, sudden shifts in human emotion, barrier disturbances, and the presence of curses that disrupt the environment. This ability is strongest before storms, during heavy rainfall, and at dawn or dusk.
Shion can store harvested atmospheric cursed energy in Arashi Clan cursed tools, talismans, conductive metal, and stormglass components. Stored energy allows her to use limited weather-based abilities indoors or under unfavorable conditions. However, the energy gradually decays, and overcharging a tool can cause it to fracture, discharge unpredictably, or attract curses.
Shion’s Domain is a dark, open space beneath a vast, dark cloud ceiling. The ground is shallow water reflecting a sky lit by distant lightning. The air is unnaturally still, with no wind, rain, or sound beyond the slow pulse of thunder.
Its sure-hit effect forces the target into an artificial atmospheric equilibrium: their movement, breathing, balance, and cursed-energy flow are constantly “corrected” by pressure changes around them. Every attempt to accelerate, attack, or release a large amount of cursed energy creates an equal counter-pressure response that damages them and interrupts their rhythm.
