As appropriate for the holiday season, many are spending time with loved ones. I, however, am sitting in front of my computer for a much more important endeavour: a top 10 things of the year list.
2025 was probably the best and worst year of my life (so far). My grandfather passed away, I graduated high school, I started university, and I became a progressively worse person. Here's the 10 most memorable things that kept me going throughout everything. These are listed in no particular order without a centralized theme.
10. ALBUM: Willoughby Tucker, I'll Always Love You, (Ethel Cain)
THIS WAS ALL FOR YOU!!!!!! Gorgeous, lush, and delicately crafted. I cried to Nettles on a road trip through the Rocky Mountains during the summer. I would 100% recommend this life-changing experience to everyone.
9. MOVIE: Sinners, (dir. Ryan Coogler)
Absolutely generational film, hands-down. Ryan Coogler out-Coogler-ed himself again. This is the kind of movie that future film-makers will cite as the first spark that inspired them to start creating. Please go see it if you haven't already, but don't watch it with your aunt like I did. Also, do not invite that white boy to the function.
8. MEME: We are charlie kirk
Hell yeah brother.
7. MEDICATION: zoloft
I started to take a low dose of zoloft this year after a very long period of feeling quite terrible about myself. After a month, I feel noticeably less self-conscious, anxious, and hopeless, and I also just don't care about anything now. Thankfully the medication did not cause me to shit myself or develop any other side effects. The joys of modern medicine.
6. MOVIE (again): superman, (dir. James Gunn)
A genuine delight of a film that finally gets Superman right. I was held at #Gunnpoint the entire time I watched this and I loved every second of it. You WILL love your neighbour. You WILL be filled with hope and joy.
5. government spending of my canadian tax dollars: heated rivalry, (dir. Jacob Tierney)
A certified Canadian Heritage Minute. While the concept of the show isn't totally my thing, it has spectacular direction and acting. It's hard not to fall in love with Heated Rivalry. If you also enjoyed this show, kiss a Canadian.
4. GAME: No, I'm not a human, (Critical Reflex)
This game has given me awful insomnia and panic attacks but it still goes hard and you should play it. I love PaleGun yaoi. The protag needs to be impregnated.
3. ship: diolys
Homemade hetslop from yours truly. They lowkey only exist as an outlet for my goonery. Lonely bisexual man with mental issues from Baltimore, MD forms a toxic codependent relationship with a human-like eldritch horror who is an allegory for sexual slavery during the Vietnam war. These guys have genuinely taken over my brain like a neurological parasite.
2. fetish: degradation
Surprisingly tame for my standards, you are probably thinking. Turns out I love rage-baiting people because I enjoy being told what a worthless, pathetic scum of the Earth I am. #beastmode.
1. readers: you!
Whether you stalk my page relentlessly for updates or only stop by a few times a year, I appreciate you. Thank you for bearing witness to my descent into insanity. Here's to another year of it :)
